Grad Ticket Reservations and Sales open online Monday April 4th at 4pm and close Tuesday May 31st at 5pm. A credit card is required. Competition to Transition: Sharing Resources to Ensure Student Success

Canadian Education Association (CEA) Spring 2011

When Jasper Place High School in Edmonton began shifting its attention away from competing for more students from its feeder junior high schools and toward better student retention, it found that the transitional process was the key to success. Jasper Place principal and counselors worked with their counterparts in the junior high schools to identify students at risk and to begin the transition process in the final year of junior high. Beginning in 2009, Jasper place offered these students access to a “success coach” in their Grade 9 year and offering them an opportunity to complete two compulsory high school courses during the summer before Grade 10. As a result, when the entered high school in September they had already experienced success, they had six credits in their high school portfolio, they knew their way around the school, and they knew key personnel. In many cases they were the leaders in those first few weeks.

Grad Update - March 29, 2011

All Grad related tickets and rentals can be purchased online! Commencement ceremony tickets or gown rentals can be purchased HERE, and Banquet table selection and tickets purchases can be found HERE.

 

Cookie Dough Sales were fantastic! A total of 125 free banquet tickets were earned! Thank you so much to the students and their families for working so hard. If you earned tickets, the credit will be displayed on your file at the time of online purchase for your Banquet Tickets.  

Cookie Dough Delivery date is April 14th - the same night as Semester 2 Parent Teacher Conferences at JP. Please come to the room beside the elevator on the main floor near the Admin Office (Room 103) to pick up your cookie dough orders between 12pm (noon) and 7pm. Please note: cookies are frozen so please make arrangements to pick them up that day.

   

Leadership News

Project Shelter Wakadogo is a Canadian and Ugandan-registered charity with the following objectives: To open and run a nursery school in Gulu district, To enroll 80 children to begin with, aged 3 to 6 years and expand to 160 children by June 2010, To provide each child with good education in a safe and nurturing environment,  and to develop a plan in order to make the school self-sustainable.

Please join the Jasper Place INTERACT club sponsored by the Mayfield/Sunrise Rotary Clubs in raising funds for this much needed school in Uganda.  Jasper Place school is hosting a benefit the evening of Tuesday May 3rd in support of this project.  FUNDING FUTURES  "An Evening for Wakadogo" with dinner, program,  and entertainment will be held Tuesday May 3rd at 5:30 pm.  Contact Mr. Ennis at 780.408.9000 for tickets or information.
