The Mathematics department offers courses that are designed to provide for diverse abilities, needs, and interests. Students are required to take a minimum of two mathematics courses for a total of 10 credits towards earning an Alberta High School Diploma. It is critical that students select the correct course sequence in grade 10, or they may end up requiring additional courses to study topics not previously covered. A graphing calculator is required for all Pure and Applied Mathematics courses. Instruction will be provided on the Texas Instruments TI-83/84 series of calculators. Additional information will be provided on calculator models in our summer newsletter. In Mathematics 30 Pure and Mathematics 30 Applied, a provincial diploma examination must also be written. The school awarded mark and the diploma examination mark are averaged to give a final blended mark. Completion of homework and assignments and regular attendance are crucial to success in mathematics.
