COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES Ceremonies will be held on June 28/2010 at the EDMONTON EXPO CENTRE at NORTHLANDS starting at 6:00 p.m. Students are required to pay a commencement fee to participate in the ceremonies. A professional photographer has been contracted by the school to take pictures of the students as they cross the stage. To ensure that all graduates and their families enjoy the ceremonies, photographs may only be taken from seats. Cap and gown rentals will take place during the week of April 19-21/2010. Gowns will be distributed Friday June 25th and on Monday, June 28th, starting at 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm in Room 188. Gowns and stoles must be returned to the coat check, in the main lobby, the night of the commencement exercises. Tickets to the Commencement Exercises will be sold with Banquet tickets starting May 17-21/2010. GRADUATION BANQUET AND DANCE Tuesday June 29/2010 Banquet and Dance will be held at the EDMONTON EXPO CENTRE at NORTHLANDS commencing at 6:30 p.m. Tables are set in rounds of 10. Grad banquet tickets will be on sale starting May 18-21/2010 in room 188 starting at 3:30 pm daily. The ticket sales are organized as following- Monday May 17/2010 - Alpha Group A-E
- Tuesday May 18/2010 - Alpha Group M-R
- Wednesday May 19/2010 - Alpha Group F-L
- Thursday May 20/2010 - Alpha Group S-Z
- Jostens will be available in the foyer to take formal family or group portraits throughout the evening on June 29 - EDMONTON EXPO CENTRE at NORTHLANDS.
FREE GRAD TICKETS - COOKIE FUNDRAISER Students can sell cookies and earn their way to grad. Tickets can cost anywhere from $60-70 but take advantage of our cookie sale fundraiser and if a student sells 11 boxes they receive a free ticket to the banquet and dance. Last year we raised thousands of dollars and some students sold enough for 10 free grad tickets. See Mr. Stanley for details. Cookie money is due November 9 and 10th/2009 and please make cheques payable to JASPER PLACE HIGH SCHOOL. GRADUATION PICTURES LifeTouch will be in the school Monday January 11 - Friday January 15/2010 to take graduation pictures in room 188. Students must schedule an appointment in advance - appointments can be made on with Mr. Stanley as the first booking was at the Grad assembly on October 21/09. Retakes will be March 15 - 17/2010 in room 188. To book an appt. for retakes see Mr. Stanley in room 212. Only pictures taken during this time period, through LifeTouch, will be in the yearbook and on the composite poster. Composite posters will be available to all graduates at the end of June 2009. CLASS RINGS Jostens Canada will have a complete selection of class rings on display November 25-27 and December 3-4/2010. PROGRAM COVERS Graduating students will have the opportunity to submit an original drawing based on this year’s graduation theme. The contest will run from January until February 28, 2010. The artwork will be used on the program covers for both the commencement exercises and the banquet and dance. The artist will receive one free banquet ticket to the banquet. GRAD FASHION SHOW The grad fashion show will be held on March 11/2010. Students who are interested will be invited to an information meeting in early February. ENTERTAINMENT Students will be invited to audition for a chance to perform at either the fashion show, the commencement exercises or at the banquet and dance. The auditions will take place in early April 2010. VALEDICTORIAN The valedictorian is a student selected for their demonstration of high academic achievement combined with involvement in athletic, leadership, and/or other extra-curricular activities throughout the high school career.The valedictorian speech will be delivered at the convocation ceremony. CLASS HISTORIANS Class Historians are selected by the Grad Committee to review the past three years at Jasper Place High School. This speech is presented at the Banquet and Dance. GRAD CLOTHING Grad 2010 clothing will be on sale from January - May 2010. Students should listen to the announcements for more information. VIDEO MEMORY DVD The Video Memory DVD of the graduating class will be played at the EDMONTON EXPO CENTRE at NORTHLANDS and for sale the week following grad.
